Raisi sees China’s willingness to help Iran join BRICS

TEHRAN, February 16. /TASS/. China intends to facilitate Iran’s joining the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said at a press conference after his visit to China on Thursday at Mehrabad airport.

"We have seen China’s willingness to help the Islamic Republic of Iran join BRICS, and the foreign minister will closely follow the subject so that our country can benefit from the potential of membership in this inter-regional organization," the Tasnim news agency quoted the president as saying.

The president assessed his visit to the PRC as successful and fruitful. Twenty memoranda of understanding in the fields of trade, the economy, energy, science and technology were signed during the visit. The two countries agreed that bilateral cooperation will be accompanied by technology transfer.

According to the president, the trip is in line with the important role Iran plays in security, the economy and trade.

The Iranian president’s visit to Beijing took place from February 14-16 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
