RABAT, November 7. /TASS/. The Algerian authorities have filed a formal application to join the BRICS group. The Al-Shorouk news portal said the special envoy of the country's Foreign Ministry for international partnership, Leila Zerrougi, broke the news on Monday.
"Algeria has filed an official application to join the BRICS group," she said. At the end of July, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said that his country was interested in joining BRICS. He stressed that Algeria had met almost all the conditions for being a BRICS member. Tebbun stressed that accession to BRICS would allow Algeria to avoid participation in what he described as "bipolar conflicts."
