MOSCOW, May 17. /TASS/. After the coming to power of Olaf Scholz, Berlin lost all signs of its independence, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday at the educational marathon conference New Horizons organized by the Russian Znanie (Knowledge) society.

"After the current government came to power, Germany lost last signs of independence," he said.

"In general, in the EU, now only President [of France Emmanuel] Macron is trying somehow to speak about the EU’s strategic autonomy. I am sure they would not be allowed it," Lavrov added.

According to him, the EU is gradually merging with NATO. Moreover, it makes no secret of it.
