Belarus has no plans to deploy nuclear weapons, Lukashenko says

When asked whether these plans can change, should the situation deteriorate, the Belarusian President said that it is unlikely

MINSK, March 18. /TASS/. Belarus has no plans to develop or deploy nuclear weapons, President Alexander Lukashenko said Friday.

"I have no plans to deploy nuclear weapons here, produce nuclear weapons here, develop or use these nuclear weapons against anyone. This has never been in my plans or plans of Belarusian authorities," Lukashenko said in an interview for Japan’s TBS, published by BelTA Friday.

When asked whether these plans can change, should the situation deteriorate, Lukashenko said that it is unlikely.

"No, I do not believe that such situation will happen. I believe that people both in America and in the West have not yet gone insane enough for us to resolve this problem via nuclear weapons."
