NAIROBI, October 17. /TASS/. The number of confirmed Ebola cases in Kenya has risen to seven, including one fatality, Reuters reported, citing the country’s Health Ministry.
Four new cases have been detected over the past 24 hours. Three of the patients are medical workers who provided medical aid to the country’s first Ebola patient. Another infected was his relative. All four were under quarantine when the symptoms manifested. Two patients previously diagnosed with Ebola are in stable condition.
The ministry said the first patient contacted with 130 people, and 128 of them have been identified and placed in quarantine. So far, there have been no signs that the infection has begun to spread beyond the identified transmission patterns. No restrictions on travel, trade and mass gatherings have been introduced.
The first Ebola case was detected in Kenya on October 5, in a citizen who arrived from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) via Uganda. The man died. The Ebola outbreak in DRC continues, with no vaccine against it approved to date.
