BEIJING, February 10. /TASS/. A delegation from the Moscow Mayor’s Office discussed with its counterparts in Beijing further implementing a previously-Covid-suspended cooperation program between the Russian and Chinese capital cities, Sergey Cheremin, Moscow’s senior official who led the delegation, said in an interview with TASS on Friday.
"The main purpose of our meetings with [our] Chinese partners was to resume the dialogue between the two capitals after the lifting of major coronavirus restrictions in China," said Cheremin, Minister of the Moscow City Government and head of the city’s Department for External Economic and International Relations.
"We discussed practical steps to implement the agreements enshrined in the Cooperation Program between Moscow and Beijing, signed by the two mayors in 2020," Cheremin added.
Cheremin noted that the Moscow delegation had productive talks with representatives of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, as well as the leadership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretariat, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau.
"It is symbolic that the visit of Moscow Mayor’s Office representatives was the first visit of a foreign delegation within the framework of Beijing’s regional cooperation", he stressed.
The Moscow delegation visited the Chinese capital on February 5-7 as part of cooperation between Moscow and Beijing.
In December 2020, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin and Mayor of Beijing Chen Jining signed a cooperation program between the Moscow Government and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality for 2021-2023.
