MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Russia’s agency for international humanitarian cooperation Rossotrudnichestvo will find new formats to continue its activities in Germany, its head Igor Chaika told TASS.
"We will not wait until the [Russian] House [in Germany] resumes its work. We are looking for formats that will continue our activities," he said.
Chaika declined to say what formats he was referring to "so as not to put our German partners in an awkward position. But we will definitely do it once we receive approval from our German partners. I think we’ll do it at the beginning of next year."
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said that the German government will denounce the agreement on the Russian House activities in Berlin after the discovery of a drone at Leipzig/Halle Airport, and close the Russian Consulate General in Bonn starting September 18. Germany will also tighten control at the country’s entry points. Under a 2011 agreement, the contract may be terminated only after the expiration of its 5-year term, so the operation of the complex to be terminated by June 2027.
The work of the Russian House, opened in 1984, is aimed at developing cultural, humanitarian, scientific, and educational ties between Russia and Germany, at supporting Russians living there, and at promoting Russian culture and the Russian language.
