MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Some German political forces consider the closure of the Russian House in Berlin a mistake, and, if they come to power, its work can be resumed, head of Russia’s agency for international humanitarian cooperation Rossotrudnichestvo Igor Chaika told TASS.

"We see that a number of political forces in Germany see the fallacy of this decision, and they are ready to change it if they come to power," he said.

"This issue is complex and lies in the plane of bilateral relations between Russia and Germany. Let’s hope that common sense will prevail, and that a return [to full-scale operation] will indeed take place at some point. Because the German people reacted very ambiguously to this decision; there were many examples of German citizens expressing their dissatisfaction."

Germany closed the Russian House on September 1, holding Russia responsible for a drone incident in early August at Leipzig/Halle Airport. The Russian Consulate General in Bonn was also closed, and other measures were taken. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Germany’s new anti-Russian decisions justified by the drone incident at the airport are yet another gross mistake, which hurts the interests of Germans.

The work of the Russian House, opened in 1984, is aimed at developing cultural, humanitarian, scientific, and educational ties between Russia and Germany, at supporting Russians living there, and at promoting Russian culture and the Russian language.
