12 cadets from the Republic of the Congo boarded the ship to complete their navigation training

MOSCOW, October 30. /TASS/. The Russian Navy’s Baltic Fleet ship Perekop has concluded an unofficial visit to the port of Pointe-Noire (Republic of the Congo) as part of a navigation training voyage, the fleet’s press service reported.

"The Baltic Fleet training ship Perekop has concluded an unofficial visit to the port of Pointe-Noire in the Republic of the Congo as part of a long-distance navigation voyage," the press service said.

It noted that cadets from the Admiral Ushakov Baltic Naval Institute are undergoing navigation training aboard the Perekop. Along with the Russian cadets, foreign military personnel from Namibia who are studying naval affairs in Russia are also participating in the voyage (cadets from the Center for Foreign Military Personnel Training at the Admiral N.G. Kuznetsov Naval Academy).

It is noted that 12 cadets from the Republic of the Congo boarded the Perekop ship to complete their navigation training. In addition, there are plans to take aboard cadets from Cameroon and Guinea along the route.

The fleet specified that during the voyage, the cadets continued with their navigation training program. The future officers served as watch officers and their substitutes, learned to plot a course using data from navigational instruments, and developed the skills needed to navigate straits and narrow passages.
