MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. Russian troops liberated 12 communities in the Kharkov and Zaporozhye Regions and the Donetsk People’s Republic over the week of October 10-16, including two communities during the past 24 hours in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.
"Last week, Battlegroup North units took control of the settlements of Lukashovo, Lobanovka, Reznikovo, Kupino, Nefyodovka and Chernoye and yesterday they established control of the settlements of Varvarovka and Nikolayevka in the Kharkov Region through active and decisive operations. <…> During the week, Battlegroup Center units liberated the settlements of Novotroitskoye, Petrovskoye and Lidino in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said in a statement.
"Over the past week, Battlegroup East units continued their advance deep into the enemy’s defenses and liberated the settlement of Nikolskoye in the Zaporozhye Region," the ministry reported.
Russian troops deliver eight precision strikes on Ukrainian military sites over week
Russian troops delivered one massive and seven combined strikes by precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles on Ukrainian military-industrial facilities, logistics and telecommunications centers and ammunition depots over the week, the ministry reported.
"On October 10-16, 2026, the Russian Armed Forces delivered one massive and seven combined strikes, hitting military-industrial enterprises, logistics and telecommunications centers, transport infrastructure facilities used to support the Ukrainian army’s operations, sites producing and storing unmanned aerial vehicles, ammunition and materiel depots, and also temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries," the ministry said.
Russian troops delivered strikes over the week, degrading some infrastructure facilities of Ukrainian ports used to receive and store military supplies, it said.
"In addition, some infrastructure facilities of Ukraine’s ports used to receive, store and distribute military cargo were degraded," the ministry said.
Russian troops struck 15 dry cargo ships involved in the delivery of Western weapons and military hardware to the Ukrainian army over the week, the ministry reported.
"During the week, 15 dry cargo ships involved in the delivery of Western weapons, military hardware, fuel and equipment for the needs of the Ukrainian army were hit," the ministry said.
Russia’s Battlegroup North thwarts Ukrainian attempts to break out of encirclement in Kharkov area
Russia’s Battlegroup North thwarted all the Ukrainian army’s attempts during the past week to break out of the encirclement in the Kharkov Region, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup North units continued tightening the ring of encirclement of enemy formations in the northeast of the Kharkov Region and expanding the outer area of control. <…> All the enemy’s attempts to break out of the encirclement were thwarted," the ministry said.

Russia’s Battlegroup North inflicted more than 1,675 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed five enemy armored combat vehicles in its areas of responsibility over the week, the ministry reported.
During the past week in the Kharkov and Sumy Regions, Battlegroup North units "inflicted losses on manpower and equipment of six mechanized brigades, two motorized infantry brigades, two airmobile brigades, an assault regiment of the Ukrainian army, four territorial defense brigades and a National Guard brigade," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost more than 1,675 personnel, five armored combat vehicles, 82 motor vehicles, three field artillery guns and eight electronic warfare stations in the areas of responsibility of Russia’s Battlegroup North over the week, it specified.
Russia’s Battlegroup West inflicts over 1,550 casualties on Ukrainian army in week
Russia’s Battlegroup West inflicted more than 1,550 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed 18 enemy armored combat vehicles in its area of responsibility over the week, the ministry reported.
"During the past week, Battlegroup West units gained better lines and positions and inflicted losses on formations of two mechanized brigades, an assault brigade of the Ukrainian army, a marine infantry brigade and two territorial defense brigades," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost more than 1,550 personnel, 18 armored combat vehicles, 94 motor vehicles, 12 field artillery guns and 11 electronic warfare stations in that frontline area over the week, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup South inflicted more than 1,155 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed nine enemy armored combat vehicles in its area of responsibility over the week, the ministry reported.
"Over the past week, Battlegroup South units improved their forward positions and inflicted losses on manpower and equipment of two mechanized brigades, a motorized infantry brigade, a mountain assault brigade, an airmobile brigade, an unmanned systems brigade of the Ukrainian army, a marine infantry brigade and a territorial defense brigade," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost more than 1,155 personnel, nine armored combat vehicles, 198 motor vehicles, 13 field artillery guns and two electronic warfare stations in that frontline area over the week, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup Center inflicted more than 2,740 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed 37 enemy armored combat vehicles in its area of responsibility over the week, the ministry reported.
Over the past week, Battlegroup Center units "inflicted losses on formations of four mechanized brigades, a jaeger brigade, an airborne brigade of the Ukrainian army, a marine infantry brigade and three National Guard brigades," the ministry said.
Overall, the Ukrainian army lost more than 2,740 personnel, 37 armored combat vehicles, 76 motor vehicles, 11 field artillery guns and 11 electronic warfare stations in the responsibility area of Russia’s Battlegroup Center over the week, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup East inflicted more than 1,695 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed seven enemy armored combat vehicles in its area of responsibility over the week, the ministry reported.
During the past week, Battlegroup East units "inflicted losses on manpower and equipment of a mechanized brigade, an assault brigade, three air assault brigades, three assault regiments of the Ukrainian army and two marine infantry brigades," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost more than 1,695 personnel, seven armored combat vehicles, 53 motor vehicles, three field artillery guns and two electronic warfare stations in that frontline area over the week, it specified.
Russia’s Battlegroup Dnepr eliminates 240 Ukrainian troops in week
Russia’s Battlegroup Dnepr eliminated roughly 240 Ukrainian troops and destroyed an enemy armored combat vehicle in its area of responsibility over the week, the ministry reported.
"Last week, Battlegroup Dnepr units improved their tactical position and inflicted losses on manpower and equipment of two mechanized brigades, a mountain assault brigade, an assault regiment of the Ukrainian army and a territorial defense brigade," the ministry said.
"As many as 240 [Ukrainian] military personnel, an armored combat vehicle, 116 motor vehicles, five artillery guns and nine electronic warfare stations were destroyed," the ministry reported.
Russian air defenses intercept 5,695 Ukrainian UAVs, four cruise missiles over week
Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 5,695 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and four Flamingo cruise missiles over the week, the ministry reported.
"Air defense capabilities shot down seven guided aerial bombs, two rockets of the US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, four Flamingo long-range cruise missiles, a Neptune long-range missile and 5,695 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said.
Tally of Ukrainian army’s losses
Overall, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 674 Ukrainian combat aircraft, 284 helicopters, 263,235 unmanned aerial vehicles, 672 surface-to-air missile systems, 31,251 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,790 multiple rocket launchers, 36,738 field artillery guns and mortars and 74,686 special military motor vehicles since the start of the special military operation, the ministry reported.
