UNITED NATIONS, October 14. /TASS/. Russia demands that Ukraine allowed staffers of international rights organizations to visit places in Ukraine where Russian prisoners of war are being kept illegally, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik said.
"We demand that the facts cited, described and presented be thoroughly investigated, and that the human rights missions present in the Kiev-controlled territories make every effort to gain access to the locations where Russian prisoners of war are being unlawfully detained," he told an unofficial Arria-formula meeting of the UN Security Council.
In his words, rights advocates, who currently "assert that ‘the majority of criminal acts by Ukrainian militants were committed during the initial stages of captivity,’" should have full knowledge of these atrocities so that they could "share these facts with the rest of the world, which still claims that the Kiev regime continues to adhere to the norms of the IHL [international humanitarian law], including in the treatment of POWs," the Russian diplomat added.
