US needs to change approach toward Russia for strategic stability dialogue to start — MFA

According to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, the current global situation is not conducive to dialogue on strategic stability or issues related to future arms control

MOSCOW, May 26. /TASS/. Currently, no conditions exist for a dialogue on strategic stability with the United States, as this would require visible changes in Washington’s approach toward Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters.

"To begin with, the current global situation is not conducive to dialogue on strategic stability or issues related to future arms control. Only tangible improvements in US policy toward Russia, if they do occur, could lead us to consider such a possibility," the deputy foreign minister said.

According to him, "nothing even remotely like that is visible at the moment, so the question of whether we are ready for something or not is irrelevant." "We simply do not consider such possibilities," Ryabkov stressed on the sidelines of the First International Security Forum held under the auspices of the Russian Security Council.
