Russian parliament’s upper house ratifies military cooperation pact with Nicaragua

The document provides, in particular, for such areas of cooperation as joint training of troops, exchange of experience and information in countering the ideology of extremism and international terrorism and collaboration between military educational institutions

MOSCOW, April 29. /TASS/. The Russian parliament’s upper house, the Federation Council, has ratified at its plenary session an intergovernmental agreement on military cooperation with Nicaragua.

The agreement was signed in Moscow on September 22, 2025. Among other provisions outlined in the document, it provides for the following areas of cooperation: joint training of troops, exchange of experience and information in countering the ideology of extremism and international terrorism, collaboration between military educational institutions, cooperation in the military-scientific field regarding research on military security issues, and other areas.

The ratification of the document will help deepen cooperation between the two countries in the military sphere. The authorized bodies for the implementation of this agreement are the Russian Defense Ministry on behalf of Russia and the General Command of the Nicaraguan Army on behalf of Nicaragua.
