Putin to decide makeup of delegation to be sent to Pope’s funeral — Lavrov

"This is a decision for the president, and I am sure that you will be informed about it very soon," the Russian foreign minister said

SAMARKAND, April 23. /TASS/. President Vladimir Putin will decide who will make up the Russian delegation that goes to the late Pope Francis’s funeral, and an announcement about its composition will be made very soon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following his visit to Uzbekistan.

"Very soon," Lavrov said when asked when the lineup of the Russian delegation at the Pope's funeral would be determined. "This is a decision for the president, and I am sure that you will be informed about it very soon."

Pope Francis died at the age of 88 on Monday morning after he suffered a stroke and heart failure. In February and March, he was treated for severe pneumonia in the hospital, underwent rehabilitation, and was ordered to follow a strict regimen of bed rest.
