Russian MFA calls for UNSC resolution to investigate Nord Stream explosions

MOSCOW, March 13. /TASS/. The UN Security Council should urgently pass a resolution to establish an independent commission to investigate the Nord Stream blasts in light of the discovery of an object that’s not part of the Nord Stream, but could be a part of an explosive device, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement on Monday.

According to Zakharova, the ministry took note of reports that emerged recently that an object had been found in the exclusive economic zone of Denmark at a distance of 30 kilometers from the site of the sabotage, and that object is not part of the Nord Stream, but could be a part of an explosive device.

"The discovery that was made during the above-mentioned survey once again emphasizes the urgent need for the [UN] Security Council to adopt a resolution for the UN secretary-general to establish an appropriate commission in order to shed light on all the circumstances of the sabotage so that this does not happen again in the future," the diplomat said.
