HIMARS in Ukraine so far of no threat to Russia — Medvedev

According to Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, such weapons can fire rockets at various ranges, depending on the rockets’ category

MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/. HIMARS multiple rocket launch systems supplied to Ukraine by the United States are no threat to Russia’s territories, but everything depends on the rockets’ range, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday.

"As for these MIHARS’, naturally, the are of no serious threat so far," he said in an interview with France’s LCI television channel.

However, in his words, such weapons can fire rockets at various ranges, depending on the rockets’ category. "It means that when such a rocket covers a distance of 70 kilometers, it is one thing and when its range is 300-400 kilometers, its is quite a different matter. It is a threat to Russia’s territory," he stressed.
