Putin gives principled assessment of Bucha provocation in phone call with Orban — Kremlin

Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orban also discussed a number of key issues in the relations between Russia and Hungary

MOSCOW, April 6./TASS/. In a phone call with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a principled assessment of Ukraine’s provocation in the city of Bucha, the Kremlin press service said on Wednesday.

"Vladimir Putin informed [the prime minister] about the situation at the talks between the Russian and Ukrainian representatives, as well as gave principled assessments of a gross and cynical provocation from the Kiev regime in the city of Bucha," it said.

Putin and Orban also discussed a number of key issues in the relations between Russia and Hungary that continue to develop on the mutually-advantageous track, the Kremlin stressed. The leaders agreed to continue contacts.

On April 3, the Russian Defense Ministry refuted the Kiev regime’s accusations of an alleged massacre of civilians in Bucha. The military agency said that the Russian Armed Forces had left Bucha on March 30, while "the evidence of crimes" emerged only four days later, after Ukrainian Security Service officers had entered the town. The ministry stressed that on March 31, the town’s Mayor Anatoly Fedoruk confirmed in a video address that there were no Russian troops in Bucha. However, he did not say a word about the civilians shot dead in the street with their hands tied behind their backs. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov castigated the episode in Bucha as a "fake attack."
