Warsaw reinforces road barriers after incident in Krakow

Concrete blocks are being installed near Krakowskie Przedmiescie, Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski said

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Road barriers and concrete blocks are being installed in Warsaw near Krakowskie Przedmiescie, one of the city's main tourist streets and home to the official residence of the Polish president, Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski said.

"Following a police recommendation, municipal services have begun installing road barriers at the entrances from streets adjacent to Krakowskie Przedmiescie. During this period, public transport will be rerouted," he wrote on the X.

The municipal police and city on-duty services will maintain heightened vigilance across the Royal Route, the Old Town, and other crowded areas, he added.

The shooting took place on Krakow’s Main Market Square on Saturday. A 24-year-old Polish national opened fire from a car with no license plates against pedestrians. Six people were killed and fifteen were wounded. The police later found bodies of three more individuals in his apartment.
