MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. The Bank of Russia is determined a list of cryptocurrencies that can be accessible for unqualified investors, the regulator’s press service said.
"The Bank of Russia determined the list of cryptocurrencies that can be accessible by unqualified investors. It comprises Bitcoin, Ethereum Ether, and USD Tether. The relevant guidance of the regulator will come into force from November 17. The exchanges have the right from that moment to authorize these assets for public circulation," the press service said.
Unqualified investors will be able to purchase cryptocurrencies through various intermediaries - a broker, a manager or a crypto exchange desk, either on the organized or on the over-the-counter market.
Any crypto assets without restrictions will be accessible for qualified investors. An investor, irrespective of his or her status, will have to pass tests and become familiar with the risks of cryptocurrency investments before making a transaction.
The list comprises only the most liquid currencies with their criteria set forth in the law, the Central Bank said. "The market capitalization, the average daily trading volumes and the history of pricing at foreign platforms - it should not be less than five years - were taken into account when selecting. Such approach is aimed at mitigating risks of unqualified investors when investing in crypto assets," the regulator added.
