VILNIUS, November 4. /TASS/. Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Estonia have called on EU member parties to sever existing investment agreements with Russia, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
According to it, the three Baltic states and Poland "sent a joint statement to the European Commission calling for the termination of bilateral investment treaties that remain in force between Russia and 17 EU member states."
The continued validity of bilateral investment treaties (BITs) that establish mutually agreed rules governing the investment environment between the parties "poses a threat to the EU’s economic security as a whole," Estonia’s MFA argued.
