MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Rosatom has completed the first shipment of nuclear fuel for the initial loading of the VVER 1200 reactor at Unit 2 of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Bangladesh, TVEL (managing company of the state corporation’s fuel division) reported.
"The fuel assemblies manufactured by the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant have been transported via a dedicated cargo flight," the report said.
Earlier, in autumn 2026, fresh nuclear fuel was shipped from Siberia to Bangladesh to enable the first-ever refueling at Unit 1. It will be carried out after the reactor has completed its first annual fuel cycle," TVEL said.
The Rooppur NPP features two VVER 1200 reactors with a combined capacity of 2,400 MW. The plant is being built 160 km from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, under a Russian design and in accordance with the main contract signed on December 25, 2015.
