SIRIUS /Federal Territory/, October 9. /TASS/. The Bank of Russia hopes that legislation regulating cryptocurrency investments will be enacted in 2026, First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia Vladimir Chistyukhin said.
"In terms of timing, we are being quite ambitious here. We believe that a sufficient amount of time has already been spent on preliminary discussions, and now we need to strive to reach a final consensus and move forward. Therefore, we would very much like to see legislation that defines all aspects of cryptocurrency investment adopted in 2026," he said.
Chistyukhin also expressed hope that a licensing process could also begin, allowing the first companies with the appropriate licenses to appear by the end of 2026. "Then, we believe that after 2026, a minimum of one year should be allotted to prepare all participants, to formalize the structures currently conducting cryptocurrency transactions, so that by 2027 the corresponding changes to law enforcement legislation, the Administrative Code, and the Criminal Code - establishing liability for illegal circulation - can come into effect," he concluded.
