Russian oil companies interested in greenfield projects in Iraq — Energy Minister

Lukoil, Gazprom Neft, and Rosneft are currently active in Iraq

BAGHDAD, February 27. /TASS/. Russian oil producers Zarubezhneft and Gazprom Neft are interested in operating in the Iraqi market and may submit bids in new tenders for greenfield projects, Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilyov told reporters after the meeting of the Russia-Iraq intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation.

"We have Gazprom Neft interested as well. We have suggested today that Zarubezhneft also enter the market," the minister said.

"We proposed that our companies be proactively involved in tenders," he added.

Lukoil, Gazprom Neft, and Rosneft are currently active in Iraq. Production is underway on West Qurna 2 and Badra fields. Projects in Iraqi Kurdistan are also being explored.
