Western sanctions cannot stop cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan — ambassador

"Over the past 20 years, Russian investors have put more than $25 bln in direct investments in Kazakhstan's economy," Alexey Borodavkin noted

ASTANA, February 10. /TASS/. Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan is successfully developing and anti-Russian sanctions from Western countries will not be able to stop it, Russian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Alexey Borodavkin said in an interview with TASS.

"Russian-Kazakh economic cooperation is developing successfully and no Western sanctions can stop it," he said.

The ambassador noted that during the three-day visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Kazakhstan at the end of January and the beginning of February, as well as during negotiations with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the issues of developing allied relations and integration ties were discussed.

"The figures announced during the visit are impressive - mutual trade turnover exceeded 2.6 trillion rubles or 13.7 trillion tenge. Over the past 20 years, Russian investors have put more than $25 bln in direct investments in Kazakhstan's economy. Over the same period, Kazakhstani companies have invested $8.7 bln in the Russian economy. The successful implementation of strategic projects in the field of industry, energy, transport, and logistics infrastructure in Kazakhstan was also highly praised," the ambassador said.
