Russia, Mali develop projects in energy, transport, and mining — ambassador

Igor Gromyko noted that the two countries are also discussing the construction of a low-power nuclear power plant

NAIROBI, December 28. /TASS/. Russia and Mali are successfully cooperating in the sphere of energy, transport, infrastructure construction, agriculture, and mining, Russia's Ambassador to Mali Igor Gromyko said in an interview with TASS.

"During the visit of Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak to Bamako, the ways of strengthening and developing economic cooperation between Russia and Mali, cooperation in energy, transport, infrastructure, agriculture, and mining were discussed. The agreements reached are aimed at further development of mutually beneficial economic cooperation between the two countries," the ambassador said.

He noted that the two countries are also discussing the construction of a low-power nuclear power plant. In July 2024, during a visit of Rosatom Deputy Director General for International Affairs Nikolay Spassky to Bamako, memoranda were signed with Mali on cooperation in the development of nuclear infrastructure, forming a positive public opinion, and cooperation in personnel training, the ambassador added.
