MOSCOW, November 19. /TASS/. The State Duma, the lower house of the parliament, has ratified the protocol to the agreement between the governments of Russia and Egypt on the provision of a state export loan by Moscow to Egypt for the construction of a nuclear power plant dated November 19, 2015.
The document was signed in Moscow on July 1, 2024 and in Cairo on September 22, 2024.
"The total loan is $25 billion. This is 85% of the cost of building the nuclear power plant itself," said Deputy Finance Minister Vladimir Kolychev.
Ratification of the protocol will facilitate the settlement of debt obligations to Russia, as well as the development of further economic and scientific-technical cooperation between the two countries on peaceful use of nuclear energy, which fully meets the interests of Moscow, according to the conclusion of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.
