MOSCOW, March 19. /TASS/. Russian Railways plans works on reconstruction of railroad infrastructure in Cuba, First Deputy Managing Director of the holding Sergey Pavlov said.
"We plan to implement the government’s decision. This year we will form and structure the project. As the situation has changed, many years have passed, we have to see what has been done there, and what needs to be done. This means that we will restructure it [the project] within the framework of implementation of the government’s decision. And we will probably draft the contract as early as this year," he said on the sidelines of TransRussia forum.
The contract may be signed this or next year, Pavlov added.
An agreement between the governments of Russia and Cuba on cooperation and upgrade of Cuba’s railroad infrastructure, which was signed in June 2019, came into force this February.
Russian Railways said last July that it was considering projects in Cuba.
