MOSCOW, September 22. /TASS/. Russian troops have finished the encirclement of a major Ukrainian armed forces fortified area in the city of Dobropolye in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and are moving further toward Aleksandrovka, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

TASS has summarized the key information available so far.

Defense Ministry’s statement

- Units of the Battlegroup Center have completed the encirclement of a major Ukrainian strongpoint in the city of Dobropolye in the DPR through decisive operations and are moving further toward Aleksandrovka, the ministry reported.

- Units of the 4th and 15th Ukrainian National Guard Brigades and the 425th Skala Assault Regiment have been surrounded, it stated.

- The elimination of the trapped enemy formations is underway, the ministry reported.

Situation in Dobropolye area

- Control over the settlements of Zolotoy Kolodez and Maryevka allows Russian troops to drive a wedge into the Ukrainian armed forces’ defenses between the fortified areas in Dobropolye and Kramatorsk, Denis Pushilin, the DPR head, said earlier on the Vesti TV news program.

- He noted that Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators are locating and destroying Ukrainian troops south of Dobropolye.

- Pushilin added that Russian forces are encircling the city from the southwest and northeast.

Importance of Dobropolye

- In an interview with TASS, Pushilin emphasized that the main supply route for the Ukrainian garrison in Kramatorsk and Slavyansk runs through Dobropolye.
