MOSCOW, February 10. /TASS/. The United Engine Corporation (UEC) said it had for the first time displayed fifth-generation 177S engine for operational and tactical jets and VK-650V engine for light helicopters.
"The UEC display features a full-size mockup of the latest 177S engine for operational-tactical aircraft. The design solutions provide major thrust while the size remained the same as the basic AL-31FP has. It operates in India on Su-30MKI jets and has been localized by the HAL Corporation. The resource of 177S comprises 6,000 hours. The thrust can be increased if the resource is decreased. 177S is distinguished by low fuel consumption at all regimes, which decreases operational costs," it said.
Turboshaft VK-650V has received type certificate, which means it is ready for batch production. The engine was designed for Ansat and Ka-226T helicopters and can power prospective aircraft.
"The UEC expands the line of aircraft engines for modern airplanes and helicopters and designs new power plants that meet the requirements of the customers. 177S engine belongs to the fifth-generation and can be installed on new jets and aircraft with previous-generation engines without construction changes," the corporation said.
The UEC also demonstrates AL-55E engine for training aircraft. It was designed for the Indian HJT-36 trainer. The modular design ensures a high technological level and decreases operational costs.
