Bilateral talks between Rosatom head, IAEA chief conclude in Sochi

It is reported that a wide range of issues is being discussed apart from the situation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant

SOCHI, March 6. /TASS/. Bilateral talks between Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Russian state nuclear power corporation Rosatom, and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi have wrapped up just as an expanded round of negotiations kicked off, a Rosatom representative told TASS.

"The bilateral talks have concluded; now consultations within an expanded composition [of participants] are taking place," the spokesman said.

According to him, a wide range of issues is being discussed apart from the situation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

The ZNPP, located in Energodar, has six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW. It is Europe‘s largest nuclear power generating facility. At the end of February 2022, the facility was taken over by Russian forces. Since then, Ukrainian army units have periodically shelled both residential areas in Energodar and the plant itself using drones, heavy artillery and multiple rocket launchers.
