Russia’s latest Tor-M2KM missile system evokes great interest at Aero India air show

In 2016, Russia successful tested the Tor-M2KM air defense system on surface ships

BANGALORE /India/, February 16. /TASS/. Russia’s latest Tor-M2KM short-range air defense missile system in its modular configuration and its ammunition have evoked great interest at the Aero India 2023 international air show, a representative of the Almaz-Antey aerospace defense manufacturer’s delegation told TASS at the aviation exhibition on Thursday.

"The Tor modular version is one of our latest innovations and the newest item. The system’s combat vehicle features an autonomous weapon station that can be mounted on any chassis, platform or trailer of the corresponding carrying capacity and employed in its stationary capability," he said.

The latest Tor-M2KM surface-to-air missile system can fire both new 9M331D missiles with an extended engagement range and 9M331 munitions that have proven their efficiency beginning with the Tor-M1 air defense system, he stressed.

"If a Tor spots and locks on a target, there is actually a 100% probability that it will be wiped out thanks to the accuracy of our guidance station," he said.

In 2016, Russia successful tested the Tor-M2KM air defense system on surface ships. The module mounted on a helipad of the Project 11356R lead frigate Admiral Grigorovich conducted launches against missile simulators. It was reported in 2020 that these air defense systems were installed on Project 22160 patrol ships in service with the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The 14th Aero India international air show is running at Yelahanka Air Force base in Bangalore in southern India on February 13-17. The India air show is held once every two years. Russia is an active participant in the Indian air shows and features over 200 military products this year.
