According to the news agency, while many Democrats have called to renew impeachment efforts against Donald Trump after the midterm elections, they have opted to first establish a legal basis for investigations

Members of the US Democratic Party are preparing to investigate Donald Trump’s actions during his presidency, with probes potentially targeting SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and members of the president’s family, Reuters reported, citing lawmakers, lawyers and political consultants.

According to the report, while many Democrats have called to renew impeachment efforts against Trump after the midterm elections, they have opted to first establish a legal basis for investigations. These inquiries could involve Trump’s sons, Musk and numerous White House officials.

"We expect a huge volume of aggressive and expansive investigations that will target both the administration and the private sector," said lawyer Rachel Cotton, a congressional oversight specialist at the Arnold & Porter law firm.

The Democratic Party won majorities in both the Senate and the House Representatives following the November 3 midterm congressional elections.
