MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. Kiev suspended tram and trolleybus services on Tuesday evening after damage to facilities at the city’s regional power hub created a critical situation in Ukraine’s power grid, the Kiev City Administration said.
"Tram and trolleybus services in Kiev are temporarily suspended from the evening of November 3. Buses will cover some routes. The reason is the critical situation in the country’s power grid," the administration said on Telegram.
Replacement buses will serve around 40 routes. However, city authorities acknowledged that they cannot fully compensate for the loss of tram and trolleybus capacity.
Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko earlier described the city’s power supply situation as extremely difficult, reporting damage to facilities at the regional power hub. Emergency power cuts were introduced across the capital region, while the power grid emergency disrupted electric public transport and water supplies.
