Lukashenko warns EU against approaching everything from position of strength

The Belarusian leader recalled that at the previous conference he had explicitly warned that the EU’s insistence on dealing with all issues through pressure and force would ultimately backfire

MINSK, November 3. /TASS/. The European Union’s tendency to approach virtually every issue from a position of strength will lead to nothing good, including for the bloc itself, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at the 4th Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.

He recalled that at the previous conference he had explicitly warned that the EU’s insistence on dealing with all issues through pressure and force would ultimately backfire.

"What are we seeing today? Mass protests in France, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Germany. In Poland, they have completely lost their minds. Young people are urging the older generation to come to their senses and invest in education rather than weapons. But then again, an uneducated population is easier to control! I will not even go into how these protests have exposed the true nature of their much-vaunted democracy and media. Children have been maimed - some have lost an eye, others an arm. Thousands have been thrown behind bars, while plans are being made to ban social media and restrict internet access. Are these not political prisoners? I wonder whether President Macron and other European leaders will face sanctions for human rights violations and be branded ‘dictators’," he said.
