MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. Cooperation between Russia and Africa should become an instrument of peace, development and shared prosperity, Burundi’s President and African Union Chairperson Evariste Ndayishimiye told TASS in an interview on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum.
"My message is a call to make our cooperation an instrument of peace, development and shared prosperity. Africa and Russia are interested in building long-term relations based on mutual respect, trust, non-interference in internal affairs and mutual benefit," he said.
The Burundi president expressed hope that the third Russia-Africa summit would become "a new stage that will bring concrete commitments, measurable results and a common goal: building a more peaceful, just and prosperous world."
"To Africa’s partners, I say: view our continent as a space of opportunities and an independent participant in global governance. And to us, Africans, I say: let us continue integration, economic transformation and peacebuilding while remaining united as one family," the African Union chairperson concluded.
