MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. The African Union (AU) is committed to maintaining regular dialogue with Russia to reinvigorate bilateral cooperation and ensure the implementation of concrete joint projects, AU Chairperson and Burundi’s President Evariste Ndayishimiye said at the plenary session of the third Russia-Africa Summit.
"I reaffirm the African Union’s readiness to maintain constructive and regular dialogue with the Russian Federation to give fresh impetus to our cooperation," he said.
Ndayishimiye stressed that Russia-Africa relations should be guided by mutual respect, respect for sovereignty, and shared interests. He noted that African countries seek to develop constructive relations with all international partners, emphasizing that cooperation with Moscow should support the realization of national development priorities across the continent.
The AU Chairperson also underscored the importance of translating existing agreements into concrete action. While cooperation between Russia and Africa has advanced significantly since the summits in Sochi in 2019 and St. Petersburg in 2023, he said the focus should now shift toward fulfilling commitments and delivering tangible results.
In this context, Ndayishimiye called for the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum Action Plan for 2027-2029 to serve as a practical framework for implementing priority projects, mobilizing funding, and assessing the results of bilateral cooperation. He identified key areas for collaboration, including investment in industry, infrastructure development, agriculture and energy, technology transfer, and expanded business access to Russian and African markets.
