Ceasefire declared at Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant for equipment repair — Rosatom CEO

This will help strengthen the power supply to the Zaporozhye NPP and reduce the risk of another loss of stable power supply to the plant, Alexey Likhachev stressed

MOSCOW, October 15. /TASS/. A ceasefire regime has been declared in the area of the Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant (ZTPP), Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev told reporters.

According to him, this period will be used to repair equipment that ensures the safety of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

"The current power supply via the Ferrosplavnaya line is very unstable and vulnerable to risks. Given the partially destroyed infrastructure of the thermal power plant, there is, of course, a very high probability of a permanent loss of stable power supply to the Zaporozhye NPP. A few days ago, we began work to arrange a ceasefire to repair the technological equipment at the Zaporozhye TPP, because the thermal plant's switch gear ensures safety and power supply, including for the nuclear power plant. <...> By engaging the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and coordinating with our ministries - the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - we have today established a ceasefire regime at the ZTPP. This means our specialists are now going out to begin repairs on the technological equipment. This will help strengthen the power supply to the Zaporozhye NPP and reduce the risk of another loss of stable power supply to the plant," Likhachev said.
