Acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga emphasized Kiev’s desire for "greater involvement" from the United States in the peace talks

MOSCOW, August 6. /TASS/. The peace negotiations involving the United States are currently at a standstill, with Kiev awaiting a visit from the Washington delegation, according to Acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga.

"If we consider the current state of the process involving our American partners, it is on pause," Sibiga stated during a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Kiev. "President Zelensky has spoken about this repeatedly. We are now awaiting the arrival of the American negotiating team."

Sibiga emphasized Kiev’s desire for "greater involvement" from the United States in the peace talks. In late July, the Financial Times reported that US Special Envoy for Ukraine, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law, were expected to visit Ukraine soon. Although Kiev had announced their visits multiple times, they have not yet materialized.

The Ukrainian government has expressed concerns that, since the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, US policy has deprioritized Ukraine’s peace efforts. However, with some stabilization in the Middle East situation, there are renewed reports that Witkoff and Kushner may return to facilitate negotiations in Ukraine.
