MEXICO CITY, April 10. /TASS/. The US embassy in Mexico says that the information from Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) about Mexican and Colombian drug cartel members being recruited to take part in the Ukrainian conflict is not credible.
"Slander is like a piece of coal - if it doesn’t burn, it gets one dirty," the American diplomats wrote on the embassy’s X page, commenting on the Russian embassy’s report about cartel members held in American prisons being recruited to fight in Ukraine.
However, the US diplomats did not manage to correctly translate this Mexican proverb to Russian. "They say that slander does not get one dirty, but it does," the American diplomats wrote in Russian.
The SVR press bureau earlier told TASS that US private military companies in coordination with the US authorities are recruiting Mexican and Colombian drug cartel members in American prisons to go and take part in hostilities in Ukraine.
The SVR said that if the inmates agree to this "mission," "they are promised full amnesty, reckoning they would never come back." According to the service, "the first group of cutthroats is planned to be dropped in the combat zone as soon as this summer." "The criminal gang will consist of several hundreds of Mexicans and Colombians," the press bureau added.
