Hamas receives no new US initiatives at Gaza ceasefire talks — TV

"Israel is seeking to protract the negotiating process, and hence, we have not reached an agreement until now," the Al Arabiya television channel said

CAIRO, March 24. /TASS/. Hamas has received no new initiatives from the United States during the Gaza ceasefire talks, the Al Arabiya television channel said, citing a Hamas source.

"No new US initiatives came during the talks," the television channel quoted him as saying. According to the Hamas official, when the movement presented its vision of a potential deal, the United States agreed that it was inn line with the principles of the Paris agreement whereas Israel’s negotiating position "did not include provisions on a ceasefire in Gaza and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Palestinian enclave."

"Israel is seeking to protract the negotiating process, and hence, we have not reached an agreement until now," the Hamas official said.

The Qatari capital city Doha is hosting Gaza ceasefire talks, which resumed on March 18. According to Qatari foreign ministry spokesman, Majed Al-Ansari, although the talks are yielding no breakthrough solutions, its participants view their prospects with cautious optimism.

The AFP news agency reported on Sunday that Israel’s Mossad Director David Barnea and US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William Burns had left Doha after another round of consultations.
