Pilot who hijacked Russian military helicopter reportedly found dead in Spain — media

According to the newspaper, the body of a 33-year-old man with several gunshot wounds was found at a parking garage in the town of Villajoyosa in the Province of Alicante

MADRID, February 19. /TASS/. Maxim Kuzminov, a pilot who hijacked a Russian military helicopter in 2023, has reportedly been found dead in Spain, a number of Spanish media outlets said.

The Valencia-based Eureka News outlet reported, citing sources in the Spanish Civil Guard, that Kuzminov had recently had drug and alcohol problems. His neighbors told law enforcement officials that "the foreigner behaved inappropriately, screaming, ranting drunkenly and telling stories about his past and present." This is why one of the theories is that the Ukrainian intelligence agencies could have eliminated an inconvenient witness.

According to the ABC newspaper, the body of a 33-year-old man with several gunshot wounds was found at a parking garage in the town of Villajoyosa in the Province of Alicante.

Meanwhile, Daily Information said that a neighbor found the body in a cottage village. Investigators were told that a burned car had been found in the nearby town of El Campello, where the alleged killer might have escaped. The police see score-settling as the main cause of the murder, the news outlet added.
