India’s top diplomat reports discussion of bilateral cooperation, G20 agenda with Lavrov

Sergey Lavrov began the program of his three-day visit to the Indian capital on Wednesday

NEW DELHI, March 1. /TASS/. Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar reported on Wednesday about a "wide ranging discussion" with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov of bilateral cooperation and G20 issues.

"A wide ranging discussion with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov of Russia on G20FMM sidelines. Exchanged views on our bilateral cooperation and G20 issues," he wrote on Twitter.

Lavrov began the program of his three-day visit to the Indian capital on Wednesday. As part of the trip, he will take part in the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting. In addition to talks with Jaishankar, he is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from China, Brazil and other countries.

The G20 Foreign Ministers are coming to the Indian capital on March 1-2. The March 2 meeting is expected to cover the topics of food and energy security, cooperation in the sustainable development sphere, combating terrorism, new and emerging threats, humanitarian and other disaster relief. The G20 fForeign Ministers will also focus on the situation in Ukraine. As the Press Trust of India news agency reported, New Delhi intends to do everything possible to enable the sides to issue a coordinated joint statement at the end of the event.
