MOSCOW, October 18. /TASS/. Russia does not have the power to conduct its own investigation directly at the site of the Nord Stream explosions, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
"Of course, we do not have the ability to actually carry out any work on the spot to conduct our own investigation," he said.
As the Kremlin official noted, the fact that the investigation of sabotage on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines is being conducted behind closed doors, without Russia, is regrettable.
"We can only express regret that this entire investigation process is taking place in a very, very closed regime without access to participation, without interaction with the Russian co-owner of this pipeline system," Peskov said.
Nevertheless, Russia’s special services are doing their job regarding the investigation of the emergencies at the Nord Stream pipelines.
Four leaks were discovered on the Nord Stream gas link, with the most recent one pinpointed by Sweden’s coast guard. Earlier, the Nord Stream AG company reported that three threads of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 offshore gas pipelines had suffered unprecedented damage on September 26. Swedish seismologists later revealed that two explosions had been recorded along the Nord Stream pipelines on September 26. After that, investigators of the FSB of Russia opened a criminal case on an act of international terrorism in connection with the explosions.
