Bulgaria conducts checks regarding truck that exploded on Crimean bridge

SOFIA, October 10. /TASS/. Bulgaria’s interim government has requested from its special services all available information concerning the truck that exploded on the Crimean bridge on Saturday, government spokesman Anton Koutev told Bulgaria’s national television on Monday.

"The caretaker government is conducting checks and has requested information from the special services regarding the truck that exploded on the Crimean bridge," Koutev said.

The State National Security Agency has said on its official website a probe has been launched.

"A probe has begun into the widespread rumors that the truck that blew up on the Crimean bridge on October 08, 2022 had crossed the territory of our country. The check began immediately after these reports on instructions from the caretaker government’s prime minister, Galab Donev. The prosecutor's office has been notified of the inquiry," the statement said.

On Sunday, the chief of Russia’s Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, said that the route of the truck had been had been established. The vehicle left Bulgaria for Georgia, from where it proceeded to Armenia, North Ossetia and the Krasnodar Territory. The persons who participated in organizing the truck’s movement have been also identified.

In Saturday’s emergency on the Crimean bridge several cisterns of a freight train that was passing by caught fire. Three people died as a result of the incident. Two spans of the automobile part of the bridge from mainland Russia to peninsula collapsed.
