Luxembourg expels one Russian diplomat

He must leave the country within two weeks

MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg made a decision to expel one Russian diplomat, the Ministry said in its statement Wednesday.

"Today, Luxembourg made a decision to declare one Russian embassy diplomat, whose actions contradict the security interests of Luxembourg, persona non grata," the Ministry said, adding that the diplomat must leave the country within two weeks.

Moscow will take reciprocal measures over the expulsion, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told TASS Wednesday.

Since the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine on February 24, Western states have already expelled over 300 Russian diplomats. The largest groups of Russian embassy employees were expelled from Poland (45), Germany (40), Slovakia (35), France (35), and Italy (30). The US expelled the Russian Minister Counsellor, and declared 12 employees of the Russian Mission to UN personae non gratae.
