Moscow’s COVID-19 cases rose by 21,478 during this week

MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/. Moscow’s COVID-19 cases rose by 21,478 during this week, a record low since the beginning of October, according to TASS estimates based on the anti-coronavirus crisis center’s data.

In the previous seven days, Russia’s capital recorded 34,080 coronavirus cases.

From January 18 to 24, the crisis center reported 151,191 COVID-19 cases, 9.1% less than the week before. This is the country’s lowest figure since early November.

A total of 171,329 coronavirus patients recovered this week, while the previous weekly case tally amounted to 181,542. However, the share of recoveries continued to grow having reached 84.2%, while the last Sunday it was just below 83%.

Thus, the number of so-called active cases is declining. This week the number of patients receiving medical treatment dropped by 24,034, to 518,178 - the record low since December 19.

According to the crisis center, as many as 3,896 coronavirus patients died from January 18 to 24, the highest figure since the beginning of the year. The COVID-19 mortality rate rose from 1.84% to 1.87%, the data showed.
