MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. A low-orbit satellite network supporting Internet access will be created in Russia by 2030 according to the 2035 telecommunications industry strategy posted on the website of the Russian government.
"Creation of a Russian low-orbit satellite constellation making it possible to provide broadband access to the Internet in individual regions of the Russian Federation and messaging from mobile phones to emergency services in areas with non-existent or insufficient coverage by mobile communication networks" is provided as part of the first stage of implementing the strategy (2023-2030), the document reads.
The first stage to upgrade the Russian telecommunications and relay satellite constellation in geostationary orbit is anticipated to be launched by 2030.
