Russia's opponents trying to derail diesel deal with US — Dmitriev

The RDIF chief emphasized that the deal is beneficial not only for Russia, but for the United States and the global markets

MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. Many of Russia's opponents are trying to derail the diesel deal with the US, yet it benefits all parties involved, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Special Presidential Envoy for Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, told reporters on the sidelines of Russian Energy Week (REW).

"Opponents of the diesel deal - including those from Europe - forget that Europe itself purchased $320 billion worth of Russian energy resources, as [Deputy Prime Minister] Alexander Novak noted. They try to dispute this figure, but I believe it is accurate. Therefore, many opponents are attempting to derail the deal with the US. At the same time, we see that this deal is beneficial for global markets, for Russia, and for the United States of America," he said.

The Russian Energy Week international forum is taking place in Moscow from October 14 to 16, supported by the Russian government, the Ministry of Energy, and the Moscow government. The forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation. TASS is an information partner of the event.
