MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, the Pope’s special envoy for Ukraine and head of the Italian Episcopal Conference, discussed prospects for resolving the conflict in Ukraine and the humanitarian situation in Alyoshki with Russian officials in Moscow, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"During the discussions, held in the context of the conflict surrounding Ukraine and prospects for its resolution, the parties addressed cooperation between Russia and the Holy See on humanitarian issues, including efforts to locate missing persons, exchanges of prisoners of war and civilians, family reunification, and the 'children’s dossier,' " the ministry said.
"The humanitarian crisis in Alyoshki, in the Kherson Region, was among the key issues discussed. Matteo Zuppi was briefed in detail on what was described as the criminal actions of the Kiev regime which has effectively taken the city’s civilian population hostage and is blocking attempts to deliver food and medicine or evacuate civilians remaining in the city," the Foreign Ministry said.
