MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. Washington by its vote in the UN Security Council rejected a chance to stop the bloodshed in Gaza, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

According to the ministry, on November 20 the UN Security Council voted on a resolution where one of the key demands was to stop Gaza hostilities.

"The document was prepared by the council’s 10 non-permanent members and gained the support of 14 delegations, but the decision didn’t pass," the statement said.

"Washington has again rejected an opportunity to end the horrific bloodshed in Gaza, which killed 44,000 and injured 104,000 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children. Once again, a chance to free the hostages, who include Russian nationals, has been missed," the ministry went on to say.

According to the statement, the United States used its veto for the sixth time to oppose an immediate unconditional and permanent ceasefire.

"Such a vote speaks for itself. There are no illusions and doubts left that US actions are the main and, in fact, the only reason for the escalation of violence and the suffering of millions of civilians in the Middle East and other regions of the world," the ministry stated.

Russia "will continue active efforts in the UN Security Council and other international platforms in favor of an immediate ceasefire, prevention of further expansion of confrontation, achievement of lasting and long-term peace and security in the Arab-Israeli conflict zone on a universally recognized international legal basis," according to the statement.
